Brittany is the director of field operations for Pass it On. She started as a volunteer, but once she witnessed firsthand what the “Pass it on” organization does for kids, she couldn’t help but get more involved.

During their pheasant hunt, Pass It On was able to show this young hunting group the ins and out of shooting and tracking the birds, along with sharing some stories and life lessons.

“They know how to handle gun safety; we just need to get them in the field and get them exposed to the opportunities that they can have going hunting.”

Said Mike Christensen, the founder of “Pass It On.”

“We work with kids that had little to no opportunity to get out and do this kind of thing at all. The number of kids that we took outdoors that have never even seen a cow, and then you take them out, and they get in the turkey woods, and they see the world wake up for the first time in the morning, its pretty powerful stuff.”

One of the “Pass It On” students, Chayston, had some words for The Flush crew on his experience.

“Well, you just get up really close to the birds and everything and just see what they do, and the dogs are pointing… it's pretty cool. I just like going out and seeing nature and stuff. See how they react, and it's good food too.”

Expanding

Last year “Pass It On” had over five hundred and fifty kids out on different hunts, and now they are working on expanding. They have expanded their organization to eastern and western Kansas and are now doing hunts with kids all the way up in Iowa.

Ways You Can Help

One of the best and most rewarding ways to help is to become a mentor! It’s easy to volunteer; check out Pass it On’s simple mentor application and one of the program coordinators will be in touch to get you started.

Another way you can help is to show your support with a generous donation. With your donation, they will put more smiles on kids’ faces, taking them outdoors hunting and fishing! You can donate here and check out their raffles.
