Rapid City, South Dakota – Western Legacy Development Corporation has three sites in varying phases of development in North America, strategically located central to beef and bison concentrations.
Each site is set to be a campus home to manufacturing focused on the utilization of all commonly referred to as “waste streams” produced by a packing facility. Additionally, each community in which the campus is located will have the opportunity for a public-private partnership with the developer and its associated firms to provide medical facilities, workforce housing, childcare facilities, transportation networks, manufacturing and technical jobs, agricultural advancement, and de-carbonization efforts.
The developer is jointly advocating with project associates key initiatives within this year’s Farm Bill. Each site is expected to boast a one million square foot, next-generation beef, and bison processing facility.
“Western Legacy Development Corporation continues to attract strategic relationships globally as we work through the campus development process and what exactly each location will look like in order to best integrate with the communities, incentivize regenerative agricultural practices, and advocate for increased national food security. The focus continues to be on putting competition back into the beef market and creating resiliency within the protein supply chain,” said Megan Kingsbury, President/CEO of Western Legacy Development Corporation. “We continue to work closely through the deal flow of a key relationship for the production of biodiesel and responsible use of feedstocks generated by the packing facility.”
WLDC continues to work closely with federally recognized Native American tribes, with commercial and tribal bison herds, and with independent organizations. Ongoing advocacy on state and federal levels has resulted in remarkable collaborative efforts to restore bison to its native lands and people and to provide a sustainable protein source.
