The storage bags are a lightweight option for short-term storage, while the 4 mil gallon freezer bags are more than twice as thick to better resist punctures and tears from bones, sharp edges, and frozen product. All sizes come in bulk boxes, so you will have plenty on hand for processing season.

Should I Use a Vacuum Bag or a Zipper Freezer Bag?

At 4 mil, the Zipper Freezer Bag is thicker than our 3 Mil Chamber Vacuum Pouches and 3 Mil Non-Chambered Vacuum Pouches. However, a zipper closure does not remove all of the air from the bag, so meat stored long term in a zipper bag is more likely to get freezer burn than meat in a vacuum sealed bag. For long-term freezer storage, a vacuum pouch is the better choice. For short-term storage in the fridge or pantry, a zipper bag is simpler to use and easy to reseal.
