Both, Austin and Jon gave back to the hunters' community with their time and hard work in the form of cutting down some harmful foreign tree species! These trees are potentially harmful to the surrounding habitat. Several BHA members and volunteers gathered to help future hunting and environmental efforts. Some of the trees they cut down, some they cut and sprayed with herbacide, but when they found a young Elm they only cut those trees back, with the hope of inducing new growth that the deer will eat. Meaning more Deer will gather in that location for hunting, as well as other animals like wild turkeys. Plus, more sunlight will be able to break through and create more vegetative options for consumption on the forest floor.

The Butler State Fish Park stated the volunteers helped save them over 40 hours of labor time. The state park representative marked trees weeks in advance to aid volunteers. Jon and Austin traversed the area, searching for marked trees. With chainsaw in hand, they traced the perimeter of the tree, then sprayed the herbicide triumph to prevent the tree from growing back; over time, the tree will fall.

As thanks to the 12 people who volunteered, Walton's gave a care package to everyone who showed, consisting of seasoning, a cutting board, a cutting knife, and our Walton's tumbler.
